South Indian Idlis with Sambhar (Rice Cakes with Lentil Soup):

idliWho can resist these amazing beauties. Idlis aka Rice Cakes are so light and fluffy and tastes divine to have with lentil soup.
Idli Recipe
2 cups of raw rice soaked for 3 to 4 hours
1 cup on black gram lentils soaked in water for 3 to 4 hours.
Grind them together by adding water. Add salt and keep the batter in a warm corner in the kitchen or your food warmer draw overnight.
Next day you are ready to steam them.
I used a idli maker – which comes with plates. You can always use a steamer and add dollops of this batter in small oiled containers and steam them for 10 to 12min.
Serve hot with Coconut Chutney or Sambhar.
